Or … anything with Stephen O’Malley 🙂
Thanks a lot to my good friend „Habe ich keinen“ I got aware of this musical masterpiece just the other day and this one really is worth a listen to. In the beginning I wasn’t aware that this is all about organ music played by Swedish composer Hampus Lindwall who is one very talented musician and composer … he knows how to play the Queen of instruments by heart.
What Hampus is able to perform playing the grand organ is so unbelieveable good he surely knows about all the good stuff I was able to listen to including Karlheinz Stockhausen and of course classical music of the 20th century but his own work is IMHO unique in each and every way.
Never before did I listen to contemporary organ music played with such an impact … oh, this album makes me want to listen to much more music by Mr. Lindwall!
Apart from the first track Stephen seems to no longer appear … his works seems to be done by introducing the wizard that he young Swede is.
While Stephen is a great musician and composer too his main focus seems to be to make the world of music lovers aware of talents like Hampus and I am very thankful for him putting so much energy into doing so.
At the time of writing this review I am limited to play the album at a low volume only but I still get the idea surely thanks to all the effort put in by Stephen O’Malley’s Paris based label Ideologic Organ.
Get the album on Bandcamp … https://ideologicorgan.bandcamp.com/album/brace-for-impact vinyl is also still available.
